|YTD Inventory / Shipment Report |
|11th Marketing Month||Crop: 2022||1. Export shipment volume during the 11th marketing month has been close to 3,000 tons (in shell equivalent). Year-to‐date shipments (as of August 22) barely touched 70,000 tons of pistachios (in shell equivalent), which show a 31% decline compared to last year for the same period. Government-imposed foreign exchange regulation is still the main challenge that has restricted Iranian pistachio exports throughout the current marketing year.|
2. The inventory at the end of the 11th marketing month stands at 39,000 tons, 32% of this year's opening marketable inventory of 121,000 tons. Some observers believe that the actual remaining inventory of Iranian pistachio is lower than this figure. This might be the result of an overestimation of the 2022 crop. IPA will review its 2022 crop estimate in October 2023 when the export data for the whole marketing year is at hand.
3. IPA announced its official pre-harvest forecast of the Iranian 2023 pistachio crop at 210,000 MT of dried in-shell pistachios, with Kerman Province expected to have 110,000 MT of production share. Harvest is underway in many producing regions. We are expecting normal harvest timing this year. It is still soon to comment on the quality of the new crop.
