|8th Marketing Month||Crop: 2019||1. Increasing controls on the pesticide residue in health-conscious markets, has created a great amount of awareness among larger Iranian pistachio farmers. Already certain limited volume is marketed from Iran with strict guarantees on pesticide residue and Aflatoxin.|
2. Iran’s export volume through April stays at around 113,000 MT of pistachios, which shows a 17% decline compared to crop year 2017 (the last on-year crop with the same starting inventory). Factors such as government-imposed foreign exchange restrictions have had a negative impact on Iranian pistachio export. More recently, coronavirus has led to the closure of the main land borders between Iran and its neighbors.
3. Iranian pistachio export to the Far East, Indian Subcontinent and CIS is expected to gather pace, given the attractive price of Iranian pistachios and the so-called global recovery from the Coronavirus crisis.
4. Pistachio kernel shipments (15,000 MT through April) show a growing trend, because of the unique taste and color of Iranian pistachios.
5. Our Domestic consumption of kernel as ingredient has gone up. However, the trend for total domestic consumption of Iranian pistachios is expected to remain the same.
