YTD Inventory / Shipment Report
In Tons
1st Marketing MonthCrop: 20241. According to Iran Pistachio Association’s pre-harvest forecast, 2024 crop was expected to yield around 190,000 MT of dried in-shell pistachios. IPA’s post-harvest estimate for the new crop will be published in late November.

2. First month shipments stood at 21,000 MT of in-shell equivalent pistachios, a 50% increase compared to last year and a 31% increase compared to the four-year average figure. This can be attributed to Iranian pistachios being more competitive in the global market.

3. Observing the export share of main destinations for Iranian pistachios over the past five crop years, we see that the Far East market, which experienced a sharp decline from 2020 to 2023, is now rebounding to 42% of total monthly exports. Meanwhile, the Indian Subcontinent shows a consistent upward trend, growing from 14% in 2020 to 25% in the current crop year. This suggests increasing demand for Iranian pistachios in this variety-oriented market. Notably, the significant decline in the Far East’s share from 2020 to 2023 coincided with a rise in the Indian Subcontinent’s share.

4. The demand for Iranian Green Peeled Pistachio Kernels has been very strong. Shipment of Green Kernels and their raw material to non-European destinations increased throughout the previous crop year. Remarkably, close to 40% of GPPK shipments during the first month of 2024/25 marketing year have been destined to non-EU markets.
